REVISED DATE – TUESDAY, AUGUST 14, 2007
8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The Irvine Marriott, 1800 Von Karman Avenue, Irvine
The Hospitality Training Institute is THE training resource designed by safety and security practitioners specifically for the travel, tourism, convention and trade show industries.
The global climate has changed and no longer are we safe in activities that have been taken for granted. No where is this more applicable than the hospitality, tourism and event genre. Safety and security are the number one consideration in business and recreational travel.
This course, as created by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), specifically addresses terrorism as it applies to soft targets – non-governmental facilities. It is designed to increase the awareness of private sector businesses to potential threats, and how to mitigate risks whether from international or national threats.
Who is the “frontline responder”? Who are the eyes and ears of your organization? Who is active on your property, sees and contacts your guests, and will possibly make the first call or liaison to public safety personnel in the event of an emergency? The frontline employee can be anyone in your organization. This course is for them.
Present private sector frontline personnel with the basic understanding of terrorism, WMD’s, terrorist behavior identification, alerting organizational managers and emergency public safety, and their role in protecting themselves, guests and property.
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
Understand terrorism, types of weapons of mass destruction
The role of the frontline responder in recognizing soft target vulnerabilities
Understand the terrorist planning cycle, and security precautions
Handling bomb threats and disaster preparedness response
